My neighborhood is truly special - historic, peaceful, friendly. Centrally located - close to everything that counts. Walk to the bay front & stroll along Ocean Drive. Groceries, a gym, drug store, dollar store, coffee shop all are minutes away. Bus stop is close by. I HIGHLY recommend staying on the water side of S.P.I.D.; the main artery that runs through town. That is, unless you're a fan of franchise restaurants & box stores when traveling to a new place (really?). Downtown, which has unique local restaurants (seafood anyone?) & FUN waterside attractions is a quick 10 minute drive away. Your groceries are a few blocks away at the closest HEB - basic goods only at this one - if you're a foodie at all, you'll want to drive a few miles further to the HEB at Alameda & Robert.

DIRECTIONS TO BEACH: From Casa Calypso on Primrose, turn right onto Santa Fe, then left at the traffic light at Doddridge. This will "T" into Ocean Dr., turn right on Ocean and proceed several miles down Ocean until you reach Ennis Joslin - it's a veer right from the far right lane onto EJ whereas if you continued straight on Ocean you would come to a traffic light and continue on to TAMU CC (local university) Once on Ennis Joslin, proceed until you reach South Padre Island Dr., also known as SPID. Go under the freeway, turn left and proceed onto the entrance ramp. Follow SPID to the island and the beach; you will go over a high bridge - there are two restaurants on the water you can access by exiting SPID at the foot of the bridge - Doc's and Snoopy's - either one is great for seafood and atmosphere!

Once on the island, you can either turn left at the first traffic light which is the highway to Port Aransas; you will pass several Beach Access roads that take you straight to the beach. Or you can proceed down the island to Padre Bali Park, where Bob Hall Pier is - you don't have to drive on the beach here. If you do drive on the beach, make sure driving conditions are favorable; with the lack of rain comes very dry sand and cars that get stuck - no fun! Just remember to KEEP GOING & DO NOT slow down when you drive through powdery sand!

I DO NOT ALLOW PETS AT THIS TIME. Guests bringing service animals, please note the SERVICE ANIMAL RULES: -Maximum two, under 60 lbs each -Fleas are abundant in our area; your animal must be properly treated for flea prevention before your arrival -Dogs must relieve themselves outdoors. Indoor pee pads are not allowed. This is a shared space; Guests are expected to clean up after their pets PROMPTLY, and to bring their own supplies for doing so. Please place any excrement bags in the garbage bins outside (exterior wall of the carport). -Animals are not allowed to be left in the home alone at any time during your stay, unless properly crated. -Animals are not allowed on the furniture or bedding unless you provide covers to protect the surfaces. -Please place bowls for food & water in the kitchen -While it is unlikely that an animal will damage the property, guests remain liable for any damage caused by their animal. -Misrepresentation of a service animal is a crime in Texas. The state of Texas presumes supporting documentation that was acquired through purchase or exchange of funds for goods and services to be considered fraudulent supporting documentation. Persons who falsely represent a service animal are subject to immediate eviction and penalties not to exceed $500.
